MEMORIES
I was only here for a
short time, and can't remember the name of the people who ran it in
1962?? I went to Lode Heath High School just down the road, a mixed
gender school, which I really loved, and did well in. Met a boy in
the Hermitage called 'Alfred' or 'Albert' who took a real shine to
me, and I him. I remember sitting on the swings with him in the
backyard and we'd sing 'Hey Paula' together, each singing the
appropriate lines. I had my very first professional hairdo in the
hairdressers over the road whilst here, and walked into town every
Saturday afternoon to go shopping with my friends. The Hermitage
was a huge, rambling house, but I remember it being
very happy, with some good kids there. Also remember the boys
sneaking out of their dormitory one night and coming to ours. Pity
of it was, I was asleep and didn't know anything about it until I
was woken up by the staff
coming in and catching them, and punishing us all! Even me, who
hadn't been a party to it! Happy days.
